Without commitment there is no character. Without character there is no dignity. Without dignity there is no divinity. Without divinity there is no grace. Without grace you cannot sacrifice or serve others. Your compassion and presence will not work and you cannot be happy. Remember once and for all, happiness is your birthright and it is always right to be happy. So be happy, be healthy, and be holy. We are all holy, because we all have nine holes. Adding two arms and two legs makes thirteen. You are born with thirteen, you will live with thirteen, you will die with thirteen. Thirteen (three and one) makes four—Cup of Prayer. Prayer is your power, your protector, and your provider.

I've been doing the meditation you shared with me at the very beginning.  I will have patience until I can do some of my favorite kriyas, like Folding and Unfolding the Energy. I am really convinced the practices you gifted me were instrumental in me being completely at peace before surgery. . . and for getting out of the hospital in 48 hours after brain surgery without even going into the ICU.

What a joy it is to be part of your class.  You have added to our quality of life for which Sue and I will be forever grateful.

Mr. Alan Hovey

What these classes do for me:

• give me peace and calm

• has helped me to stop drinking

• has helped become more fit, given me more strength and improve my balance

• gets me out of the house

Thank you for everything.  I love your classes!

I know, first hand, the sacrifices you make on a daily basis in order "to serve" those being led to you.  What a gift you are to the Universe; you are Divine...and so are your attributes and actions.  My well+being, under your care, is testament to this. I am infinitely grateful.

Ms. Paula Barnett

Several weeks ago I had a bad fall and, as a result, was prescribed for rehab at Advent Wellness Center.  Following rehab, I chose to take a Yoga class.  I did not know what I was in for.

My teacher, Anilda Carrasquillo, is a remarkable person. She has clarity of mind, body and soul; beauty, loving kindness and wisdom.  Anilda's presence is powerful. She speaks with a soft and gentle voice, with confidence and clear directions.

For nearly an hour (non-stop) we, in the class, are learning how to heal and recover our bodies to better health.   We do this through physical movement, deep breathing exercise, chanting mantras and engaging meditations.  Anilda has a special talent in her ability to demonstrate the physical movement with deep breathing and, at the same time, explain with explicit understanding how Kundalini methods assist our well-being.

I have experienced, over time, chronic sinus and bronchial infections.  I am now practicing breathing exercises daily.  This has resulted in releasing mucous from my lungs.  As a result, I find that my energy has increased.  I am stronger.

Anilda says that we are responsible for our own bodies., but it is Anilda who provides inspiration and knowledge that assist us in our journey to a better life. Thank you Anilda for all you give.

Ms. Sue Hovey

Yoga has changed my life. Post pandemic, I was extremely overweight and out of shape.

Anilda gave me the encouragement I needed to take my practice to the next level. I was fairly new to yoga when I first took one of her classes. I had limited mobility and had a hard time getting up off the floor. She showed me how to do it and challenged me to get better and I did. I progressed to taking a class 5 days a week and was inspired to become a yoga teacher myself.

Yoga has given me the tools to have more flexibility, stability and balance along with greater peace of mind. The practice is more than just poses, the breathwork and meditation help calm the busy mind.

I highly recommend you get started on your Yoga journey today.

Frequently Asked Questions

Below are some frequently asked questions. If you have a question that is not addressed here, please do not hesitate to ask using the form at the bottom of this page.

I’m not a regular yoga practitioner/not attending yoga or fitness classes  - can Yoga Therapy  be right for me?

Yes, Yoga Therapy can still be beneficial for you even if you are not a regular yoga practitioner or do not attend yoga or fitness classes regularly. Yoga Therapy is specifically tailored to address individual health concerns and goals, regardless of prior experience with yoga. The focus of Yoga Therapy is on utilizing yoga techniques and principles to support overall well-being and address specific physical, emotional, or mental health issues.

As a Yoga Therapist  I can work with you to create a personalized practice that suits your needs, abilities, and lifestyle. This may involve gentle movements, breathing techniques, meditation, and mindfulness practices designed to alleviate symptoms, improve function, and enhance overall quality of life.

Whether you are new to yoga or have limited experience with it, Yoga Therapy can offer valuable tools and guidance to help you achieve your health and wellness goals. It is important to communicate openly with me about your background, preferences, and any specific concerns you have, so I can tailor the therapy sessions to best support your unique needs and circumstances

Do I need clearance from my doctor?

Yes, it is generally recommended to seek clearance from your doctor before starting Yoga Therapy, especially if you have any pre-existing health conditions or concerns. Your doctor can provide valuable insights into your medical history and current health status, ensuring that Yoga Therapy is safe and appropriate for you.

In some cases, certain health conditions or recent injuries may require modifications or specific considerations during yoga practice. Your doctor's input can help me customize the therapy sessions to suit your individual needs and ensure that you engage in yoga practices safely and effectively.

Additionally, collaborating with healthcare professionals, including doctors and other specialists, can contribute to a holistic approach to your overall health and wellness. This interdisciplinary approach can enhance the effectiveness of Yoga Therapy in addressing specific health goals and promoting well-being. Therefore, consulting with your doctor before starting Yoga Therapy is recommended to ensure a safe and beneficial experience tailored to your unique health profile.

Is Yoga Therapy covered by insurance?

Most yoga therapy today is paid for out of pocket. Because the practices require time to offer the greatest benefits, I offered discounted packages.

If your insurance company provides coverage of Yoga Therapy, it can vary depending on several factors, including the specific insurance provider, policy details, and the qualifications of the Yoga Therapist. In some cases, certain health insurance plans may offer coverage for Yoga Therapy if it is prescribed by a qualified healthcare professional, such as a physician or a psychologist, as part of a comprehensive treatment plan for specific health conditions.

To determine if Yoga Therapy is covered by your insurance, it is advisable to directly contact your insurance provider and inquire about your policy's coverage for complementary and alternative therapies, including yoga-based interventions. Ask specific questions about the requirements for coverage, such as whether a referral or prescription from a healthcare provider is necessary.

Some insurance providers may require that the therapist is certified by recognized professional organizations, such as the International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT).

Ultimately, navigating insurance coverage for Yoga Therapy can be complex, and it is recommended to thoroughly review your insurance policy and consult with your insurance provider to understand your coverage options and any potential out-of-pocket expenses associated with receiving Yoga Therapy.

What if I have an injury?

Yoga therapists who are certified by International Association of Yoga Therapist (IAYT) have specific training that enables us to modify poses and exercises safely for injuries, physical limitations, and other conditions. Simply tell your yoga therapist about your concerns, and continue to communicate with your medical professionals.

What if I am not able to get on the floor? Or out of bed?

Therapeutic yoga is not always done on the floor. You could do a class or session completely in a chair or using a chair for support. Yoga therapy can be really helpful when you cannot get out of bed—like during a disease flare or hospital recovery. You can do breathing practices, meditations, or simple movements while in bed, with your doctor’s permission.

I’m not sick or injured, could yoga therapy still help me?

Yes! Yoga Therapy includes a variety of tools that can help healthy, happy people live even more vibrant and fulfilling lives. For example, evidence supports the use of meditation, which is a component of yoga, for improved relationships, sleep, memory, and concentration. The poses can improve your posture and help you feel more flexible, strong, and balanced.

Is yoga a religion?

Yoga is practiced in most settings in a completely secular way. However, for many, yoga is spiritual. Others use yoga alongside their religious practices without conflict. The philosophy of yoga can be applied in a way that respects, and even enhances, your beliefs and practices.
